Abstract
Mithra, Arilerin asırlar boyu inanıp Güneş ile ilişkilendirdikleri bir tanrıdır. Mithra inancı, Magi rahiplerinin aracılığıyla, ortaya çıktığı dönemden bu güne Mezopotamya, İran, Hindistan, Anadolu ve Avrupa coğrafyasının büyük bir kısmına yayılmış olup, Roma İmparatorluğu döneminde de baskın bir inanç haline gelerek kısa sürede imparatorlukta en etkili din haline gelmiştir. Bu külte girecek olan kişilerin işkenceye varacak çeşitli sınavlara tabi tutulup belli aşamalardan geçmesi, bu kültte yer alan dinsel törenlerin gizli yerlerde yapılıp halka açık olmaması ve başka dine katılanların bu külte kabul edilmemesi bu kültü gizemli hale getirmiştir. Özellikle Romalı askerler arasında kabul gören bu din Hıristiyanlığın imparatorlukta etkili bir din olması ile birlikte zayıflamış ve tarihten silinmiştir. Bu çalışma ile söz konusu gizem kültünün tarihi gelişimini ve temel ritüellerini ortaya koymak amaçlanmıştır. Bu amaçla konu ile ilgili kaleme alınmış başlıca eserler incelenmiş ve çalışmada gerekli görüldüğü kadar kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın amaç ve hedeflerine uygun olduğu düşünülen Deskriptif (Tasvir) ve Tarihsel Metotlar tercih edilmiştir.

Mithra is a god that the Aryans believed in for centuries and associated with the Sun. The belief in Mithra, through the Magi priests, has spread to a large part of Mesopotamia, Iran, India, Anatolia and Europe since its emergence, and became a dominant belief during the Roman Empire and the most influential religion in the empire in a short time.The fact that people who will enter this cult are subjected to various tests that can lead to torture and go through certain stages, the religious ceremonies in this cult are held in secret places and are not open to the public, and those who join other religions are not accepted into this cult have made this cult mysterious. This religion, which was especially accepted among Roman soldiers, weakened and disappeared from history as Christianity became an influential religion in the empire. This study aims to reveal the historical development and basic rituals of the mystery cult in question. For this purpose, the main works written on the subject were examined and used in the study as much as deemed necessary. Descriptive and Historical Methods, which were thought to be suitable for the aims and objectives of the study, were preferred.
