THE BALLAD OF BUSTER SCRUGGS FİLMİNDE SENARYO YAPISI, SİNEMATOGRAFİK AKTARIM BİÇİMİ VE SEYİRCİYLE ETKİLEŞİMİ

Abstract
The Ballad of Buster Scruggs filmi, Coen kardeşlerin birbirinden farklı altı adet kısa filmden oluşan uzun metrajlı bir sinema filmidir. Farklı sinematografik anlatım yöntemlerini kullanan, konuları ve karakterleri birbirinden farklı olan bu kısa filmler, bir bütün olarak incelendiğinde son derece benzer özellikleri taşıması bakımından oldukça dikkat çekici ve önemlidir. Senaryoda temanın belirlenmesi ve bu temanın seyirci üzerindeki etkilerinin aktarılmak istenen biçimiyle verilebilmesi açısından farklı bir yaklaşım sunan filmi oluşturan kısa filmler tek tek incelenerek birbirlerinden farklı ve benzer özellikleri irdelenmiştir. Çalışmada senaryo kuramlarının sinematografi ile etkileşimi ve seyirci üzerindeki olası etkileri ile yönetmenlerin film hakkındaki görüşleri de tartışılmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı Ballad of Buster Scruggs filminin birbirinden farklı kısa filmlerden oluşması nedeniyle temasal bütünlüğü oluşturabilme zorluğunun ne şekilde aşıldığını ortaya koymaktır. Bu sayede sinemacıların, bu gibi projelerde seyirciyle kurmak istedikleri bağın sağlıklı biçimde aktarabilmesine örnek oluşturmasıdır. Çalışma, temelde film analizi ve bu analizin seyirci üzerindeki hedeflenen etkileri olmasından ötürü görsel araştırma yöntemlerinin teori ve uygulama alanları sıklıkla kullanılmış, bu noktalardan hareketle ilgili kısa filmlerin sinematografik tasarımları ile bunun senaryoyla bağı ve seyirciyle ilişkisi üzerinde durulmuştur. Bütünün birer parçası olarak düşünülmesi oldukça zor görünen bu kısa filmlerin, seyircinin algı düzeyini başarılı biçimde yönlendirebildiği, bunu da sinematografinin senaryonun özüne bağlı kalarak başardığı görülmüştür. Aslında bir tema etrafında şekillenerek birbirini tekrarlayan bu kısa filmlerin, belli başlı senaryo kuramlarını titizlikle uygulayarak birbirinden oldukça farklı görünmeyi başardığı, vardığı noktaların ise benzer olduğu gözlemlenmiştir.

"The Ballad of Buster Scruggs" is a feature-length film by the Coen brothers, consisting of six distinct short films, each with different cinematic storytelling methods, subjects, and characters. When examined as a whole, these short films are noteworthy and important due to their highly similar characteristics. To determine the theme in the screenplay and convey the intended impact of this theme on the audience, the individual short films that make up the film, offering a unique approach, are analyzed for both their distinctive and common features. In this study, the interaction of screenplay theories with cinematography, the potential effects on the audience, and the directors' views on the film are also discussed. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate how the thematic coherence of the film "The Ballad of Buster Scruggs," which consists of various distinct short films, was achieved. This serves as an example for filmmakers on how to effectively convey the connection they intend to establish with the audience in such projects. Given that the study primarily revolves around film analysis and the intended effects of this analysis on the audience, visual research methods have been frequently employed in both theory and practice. From these perspectives, the study focuses on the cinematographic designs of the relevant short films, their connection with the screenplay, and their relationship with the audience. Despite appearing challenging to consider these short films as parts of a whole, it is observed that they effectively guide the audience's perception and achieve this by adhering to the essence of the screenplay, shaping themselves around a central theme. In fact, these short films, which revolve around a theme and seem to repeat each other, manage to appear significantly different by rigorously applying certain screenplay theories, even though their destinations are similar.
