Abstract

Web of Science’ta 2022 Nisan ayı içerisinde çevrimiçi (online) olarak yapılan taramalar yardımıyla ulaşılan yayınlardan “Hospitality, Leisure, Sport & Toursim” kategorisi seçilerek dergi ismi içerisinde “tourism” kelimesinin geçmesi şartıyla aranmıştır.

Abstract

Tourism is a subject that is frequently studied in academic publications because it is related to many sciences. Tourism, which is very important to national economies, plays an important role in a country’s promotion, the preservation of historical-cultural values, investment in the destination, and a variety of other issues. Tourism has both positive and negative aspects. However, because of its economic return, studies are also being conducted to address these negative aspects. Therefore, there are numerous academic and scientific publications on the concept of tourism. The aim of the present study is to identify which keywords are frequently used in connection with tourism-related studies from the past to the present. The Web of Science, one of the most widely used databases, was used to achieve this goal. The category "Hospitality, Leisure, Sport & Tourism" was chosen from the publications accessed via online searches in the Web of Science in April 2022, with the condition that the word "tourism" be included in the journal title. According to the results of the research, the journal with the greatest number of tourism-related publications is "Tourism Management." By filtering for the years 2011-2021, a total of 1559 publications were found for this journal. For the keywords reached, a total of 84 words were visualized with the help of maps using the VOSviewer (Version 1.6.9) package program after sorting for words with the same meaning. The most prominent keywords in the Tourism Management journal as a result of the study are China, sustainable tourism, climate change, tourism development, tourism demand, and rural tourism. As of 2011, the main topics that have piqued the interest of researchers are social media, well-being, and Airbnb. Following 2018, the most recent topics that have received more attention are virtual reality, big data, and Covid-19 keywords.
